Kuala Terengganu By Election

Firstly, I would like to congratulate the newly elected MP of Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. However, I don’t have any interest to describe or discuss about the MP. Anyway, the victory of opposition front which also known as Pakatan Rakyat (People Coalition) has consistently indicate significantly changes of Malaysia political landscape. After a big wave of changes in Malaysia’s 12th General election, the ruling party (National Front) has lost all by elections that took place in August 2008 and recently 2 days ago. However, what really interest me during the second by election in Kuala Terengganu is the utmost support and tremendous campaigners by non-Malay or non-Muslim. The newly elected MP is from PAS (Malaysia Islamic Party). Furthermore, the composition of voters in that constituency only consists of less than 15% of non-Muslim or non-Malay. But, the campaigner for PAS comes from all members of Coalition Front such as Democratic Action Party (Chinese dominated) and Keadilan Party (non-ethnic based party). I’ve to admit that, in this by election supports for PAS candidate by the non-Muslim reflect clearly and significantly. In late 1990s, I predicted that non-ethnic based political landscape of Malaysia will not be dominant paradigm within 10 to 15 years. Today, I dare to say that my hypothesis is nearly reality. These pictures tell you about my hypothesis…is it significant? These pictures may provide some answers...

I think Malaysians are waiting for our own Martin Luther King, his call for us to judge a person by the content of the character rather than the color our skin is slowly coming to reality now.

This is the way to go for our nation. Syabas my fellow Westlander.
